KOTA MARUDU — A two-storey house was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Kandawayon Laut here this afternoon.
According to Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station chief PPgB Debli Mamoi, the department received an emergency call via the NG999 line at 2.04pm.
“A team from the Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed to the scene, which is located about five kilometres from the station, and arrived within five minutes,” he said in a statement.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze had already engulfed the house, which was later confirmed to have been completely destroyed.
The fire also affected a nearby Perodua Viva, which suffered heat damage.
Debli said the operation involved 10 firefighters, led by Operations Commander PBK II Aloysius Juin Asumo, with assistance from two police personnel and two Sabah Electricity staff.
“The team used two 200-foot hose lines with two nozzles, sourcing water from the fire engine tank, to contain the blaze,” he said.
The fire was brought under control at 2.38pm, while the operation was fully concluded at 3.36pm after firefighters ensured the area was safe and free from any further danger.
“No casualties were reported in the incident,” he added.
The operation involved one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) carrying eight personnel and one tanker with two personnel.
