KIMANIS — Two men were killed and a woman injured in a road accident involving two vehicles along Jalan Bukit Kimanis–Keningau here today.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a distress call at 11.34am and dispatched a team from the Kimanis Fire and Rescue Station to the scene, about 25km away.
Firefighters arrived at 11.59am and found a Perodua Axia and a Proton Saga had collided head-on.
Operations commander PBK I Anwar Bahrin said three people were involved, with both drivers — aged 61 and 35 — trapped in their vehicles.
“Firefighters used rescue equipment to extricate the victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel,” he said.
Their bodies were later handed over to police for further action.
A 52-year-old female passenger in the Perodua Axia was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Seven firefighters were involved in the operation, with assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Health Ministry.
