LABUAN — A total of 26 participants recently completed a comprehensive wet hose utilization drill at the Beta 4 Block of the residential college at Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL).

The program specifically targeted members of the Student Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) to heighten awareness and equip them with essential skills required during fire emergencies.

Participants were trained in the correct, safe, and effective techniques of operating a wet hose through a systematic and hands-on practical approach.

The training session was conducted by M&E panel contractor, Syarikat Stabil Prima Jaya, with Mohd Amizan Jamaluddin delivering an interactive and comprehensive briefing. Meanwhile, Mohd Nor Azani Adani and Saufi Erwan Suhailee served as demonstrators for the practical session.

Residential College Administration Division Head, Nohanizah Adnan, noted that the knowledge-sharing session not only provided basic life-saving skills but also boosted the participants’ confidence and efficiency to act swiftly and accurately during crises.

She expressed hope that such training programs would be held regularly as a proactive measure to empower preparedness and strengthen a safety-first culture within the residential colleges.

“Our highest appreciation and gratitude go to Syarikat Stabil Prima Jaya and the UMSKAL Development and Maintenance Sector (SPP) for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring the success of this highly beneficial training session,” she said.

Also present was the Principal of UMSKAL Residential College, Ts. Hadzariah Ismail, who voiced her full support for initiatives aimed at reinforcing safety standards among college residents.

The program, organized by the Residential College Administration Division (BPKK), was held in conjunction with the UMSKAL Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Week 2026, marking World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
