LABUAN — Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) student Manmohan A/L Nathan was among the Malaysian delegates who participated in the Youth World Summit 2026 held in Paris, France, from June 11 to 14.

The summit brought together emerging youth leaders, policymakers, advocates and changemakers from more than 50 countries to discuss global youth issues, leadership development and international cooperation.

Manmohan said his participation provided him with the opportunity to share Malaysia’s youth development initiatives and exchange views with delegates from various countries on issues affecting young people today.

The summit focused on several key themes, including youth policy and global governance, peace and security, conflict transformation, climate action, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), leadership, diplomacy, global citizenship and youth participation in decision-making.

The programme was organised in line with major international policy frameworks, including the United Nations Youth, Peace and Security Agenda, the European Union Youth Strategy 2019–2027 and the UN Youth 2030 Framework.

“As a Malaysian delegate, I was proud to highlight the achievements, resilience and growing contributions of Malaysian youth on the international stage,” he said.

Manmohan said the experience also enabled him to build international networks, exchange ideas and learn from delegates of different cultural and social backgrounds.

He said the achievement marked another milestone in his leadership journey after previously representing Malaysia at the Universal Youth Leadership Summit 2025 in the Maldives and the Youth Dialogue Forum 2025 in Dubai.

“These international experiences have strengthened my commitment to leadership, diplomacy, volunteerism and youth empowerment,” he said.

Manmohan said his journey showed that young people from Labuan could compete, contribute and make meaningful impacts at the global level.

He also expressed hope that his achievement would inspire more local youths to pursue international opportunities and actively participate in initiatives that contribute to nation-building and global development.
