PUTRAJAYA — Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) and Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd (SHH) have formalised a 40:60 joint venture to develop Sunway Medical Centre Putrajaya, a planned 325-bed multi-specialty private tertiary hospital in Precinct 7, Putrajaya.

The definitive Joint Venture and Shareholders’ Agreement was signed by their respective wholly owned subsidiaries, Tapak Senja Sdn Bhd (TSSB) and Sunway Healthcare Ventures Sdn Bhd (SHV), following the signing of a Heads of Agreement on April 23, 2025.

Construction is targeted to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, with completion expected in 2031, subject to the relevant approvals and project schedules.

Located within Putrajaya’s transit-oriented development (TOD) precinct, the hospital is expected to improve access to specialist healthcare services for residents of Putrajaya and surrounding areas.

The development will benefit from the area’s transport infrastructure, including convenient access to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Under the joint venture, PjH will contribute its real estate development expertise as Putrajaya’s master developer, while Sunway Healthcare will leverage its experience in developing and operating tertiary and quaternary healthcare facilities.

Sunway Healthcare will lead the hospital’s clinical and operational planning, regulatory approvals and commercial operations.

PjH chief executive officer Ir Ts Khairul Salleh Jais said the collaboration reinforced the company’s commitment to developing Putrajaya as an integrated and liveable city.

“As master developer, we continue to prioritise developments that complement the city’s ecosystem, ensuring that essential services such as healthcare are well-integrated into our planning framework,” he said.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen Putrajaya’s position as an evolving administrative capital offering a mix of residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality and lifestyle developments.

PjH is also developing Terra and Destina Putrajaya near the hospital precinct as part of its efforts to enhance urban liveability and create value for residents, businesses and visitors.
