PUTRAJAYA — Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bedaun (SKSB) in Labuan emerged as national champion in the PETAH KPM 2026 Choral Speaking Competition, outperforming 15 state and federal territory contingents at the national-level event held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) from Oct 11 to 15.
The school’s 20-member team impressed the judges and audience with an engaging storyline, natural dialogue, humorous performances, coordinated movements, varied vocal intonation and convincing character portrayals.
The victory marked SK Sungai Bedaun’s second national title, having previously won the competition in 2023, underscoring its continued excellence in co-curricular activities, particularly language-based performing arts.
The team was coached by Shafawati Seliat, Nurdahlia Ankujau and Nadiah Mohd Ali, whose guidance helped prepare the pupils for the national competition.
For their achievement, the team received RM2,500 in cash and a championship trophy. The prizes were presented by Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek at the closing ceremony on Oct 15.
SK Sungai Bedaun headmaster Abd Rahman Salim expressed pride and gratitude for the team’s achievement, praising the pupils and their coaches for their commitment, discipline and dedication throughout the preparations.
He also acknowledged the support of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the SK Sungai Bedaun Teachers and Staff Club, which contributed to the team’s success.
