KUALA LUMPUR — The Universal Shotokan Karate (USK) team under the Labuan Federal Territory Karate Association once again stole the spotlight after delivering an impressive performance at the 15th Silent Knight International Open Karate Championship 2026 held at Stadium Titiwangsa from April 16 to 19.
Competing in a high-calibre international tournament featuring participants from countries including Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Syria and Denmark, the USK squad surged into the top five out of 80 competing teams.
The achievement was made even more remarkable with the championship attracting a total of 1,955 athletes, underscoring Labuan’s outstanding display of excellence driven by dedication, discipline and fighting spirit.
A total of 20 athletes represented USK, returning home with an impressive medal haul:
Gold Medals
- Boys Team Kata Male 10–13 years (Aqib Aimar, Ayqal, Jayden Ho, Khaidyn Nazeem)
- Ho Chiang Seng (Veteran Kata)
- Muhammad Adil Mohd Badruddin (Male Kumite 14–15 years -63kg)
- Ayqal Mohd Dzulfadly (Kumite 12–13 years -55kg)
- Syarulniza Abdul Jamil (Female Senior Kumite -61kg)
Silver Medals
- Jayden Ho (Male Kumite 10–11 years +45kg)
- Sarifin Tan (Senior Female Kata)
Bronze Medals
- Female Cadet Junior Team Kumite (Martina Anne, Nur Ariesya Dayana, Mur Aleesya Dayana)
- Mohamad Aqib Aimar Mohamad Affendi (Boys Kata 10–11 years)
- Jayden Ho (Boys Kata 10–11 years)
- Miegal (Girls Kumite 10–11 years -40kg)
- Nur Aleesya Dayana Asmadie (Female Cadet Kata)

The success reflects not only the athletes’ technical and tactical prowess but also highlights the effectiveness of USK Labuan’s structured and holistic training programme under its coaching team.
Looking ahead, the squad is set to intensify preparations for the upcoming National Junior Championship scheduled to take place in Selangor at the end of April.
