LABUAN — A 39-year-old local man was arrested and 750 litres of suspected petrol were seized during an Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated) raid conducted by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN) at an unregistered jetty in Kampung Sungai Keling today.

Labuan KPDN Director Junaidah Arbain said the 2 pm raid was mounted following intelligence gathered regarding the unauthorised storage of scheduled controlled goods at the location.

“During the operation, enforcement officers discovered 20 jerry cans and two drums containing suspected petrol, with an estimated total volume of 750 litres.

“Further checks revealed that the scheduled controlled goods were believed to have been stored without a valid permit or written permission from KPDN,” she said in a statement today.

Junaidah said all items, with an estimated seizure value of RM2,940, were confiscated for further action.

The man found at the scene was detained to assist in investigations regarding the ownership and storage of the goods under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 [Act 122].

If convicted, first-time offenders face a maximum fine of RM1 million, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.

Junaidah stressed that Labuan KPDN views the misappropriation of controlled goods seriously and will continue to strengthen enforcement through Ops Tiris 4.0 to ensure subsidised supplies are not misused by irresponsible parties.

She also urged the public to act as the eyes and ears of the authorities by reporting any suspicious activities involving controlled goods through KPDN’s official complaint channels.

“The community’s cooperation is crucial in helping to combat subsidy leakages and ensuring that the supply of controlled goods in this country is always managed and utilised in accordance with the law,” she added.
