KUALA LUMPUR — Hannah Yeoh said the Government, through the Federal Territories Department (JWP) and the Federal Territories Sports Council (MSWP), has disbursed RM282,000 in MADANI Aid to 81 sports associations in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya for 2026.

She said the MADANI Aid is not merely an allocation, but a “trust fund” that demands integrity in management and stronger governance among sports bodies.

“Every sen spent comes from the people. This trust must not be taken lightly,” she said in a social media statement today.

Hannah added that the Federal Territories Sports Bodies Star Rating system is being implemented for the 2025–2026 period as a benchmark for organisational governance, financial management and sporting performance.

Sports associations achieving higher ratings, she said, will receive recognition and additional incentives next year.

At the same event, she noted that 103 Federal Territories athletes who represented the country at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in 2025 contributed 77 medals — 19 gold, 24 silver and 34 bronze.

“For the 13th ASEAN Para Games 2025, eight athletes delivered 17 medals — three gold, three silver and 11 bronze,” she said.

In recognition of their achievements, Hannah said RM178,000 in incentives was presented to successful athletes, comprising RM157,900 for SEA Games medallists and RM20,100 for ASEAN Para Games winners.

She added that national para badminton player Cheah Liek Hou also received a special incentive of RM20,000 following his success at the 2026 BWF World Para Badminton Championships.

On the direction of sports development, Hannah stressed the importance of preparations for the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor, which is now just 123 days away.

“We were just one gold medal short of the top position previously. We must come with confidence — not merely to compete, but to give our best for the Federal Territories,” she said.

She added that the event also served as an important platform to recognise athletes’ achievements and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders within the Federal Territories sports ecosystem.
