PUTRAJAYA — The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) has cancelled the registration of Perikatan Nasional (PN) after determining that the coalition’s explanations were insufficient to justify retaining its registration.

In a statement today, ROS said it had issued a notice to PN on Sept 22, 2026, under Subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), giving the coalition an opportunity to explain and make representations on the matters raised.

ROS received PN’s response on Oct 12 and subsequently reviewed the documents and explanations submitted.

However, the Registrar of Societies found that the reasons provided did not rebut the grounds for cancellation stated in the notice and failed to offer sufficient justification for maintaining the organisation’s registration.

The decision was made under Subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966.

ROS said all registered organisations were responsible for ensuring compliance with the Act and their respective constitutions.

It added that the department would continue to carry out its regulatory and enforcement functions firmly, fairly and in accordance with the law to ensure proper, transparent and accountable governance of organisations.
