LABUAN — Young people aged between 16 and 30 are invited to take part in a community-led clean-up and restoration effort at the MTB Trail in Pohon Batu on April 26 under the “Rakan Bumi: Projek Planet Rakan Muda Peringkat W.P. Labuan 2026” programme.

The programme is aimed at reviving one of Labuan’s popular outdoor recreation routes, which has gradually become overgrown and difficult to access.

Organisers said several directional signboards along the trail have become worn out over time, while a number of wooden bridges are now in need of repair due to deterioration.

The trail was previously developed and beautified through the dedication of Team JHK Event, Team Haus, and several other volunteers who worked together to create a safe and attractive environment for the public.

“We hope this initiative will help restore the trail to its former condition so that residents can once again enjoy hiking, exercise, and healthy outdoor activities in comfort,” the organisers said.

The clean-up programme will take place from 7am to 2pm, with participants to be provided breakfast, lunch, all necessary clean-up equipment, and a certificate of participation.

As an added attraction, the organisers will also provide 100 complimentary cups of matcha from Sip & Purr, a beverage that has gained popularity among Generation Z participants.

Those interested in joining can register via the online form at: https://forms.gle/F3X355WiFq3roQnW9

The organisers expressed hope that the programme will encourage more Labuan youths to embrace volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and community spirit while helping preserve one of the island’s valued recreational spaces.
