LABUAN — The Labuan Federal Territory Intellectual Oratory Competition 2026 for the Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) Director’s Cup was successfully held at the campus main hall recently.
The prestigious event, which vied for the trophy of UMSKAL Director Prof Dr Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin, brought together 25 participants from higher learning and educational institutions around the Federal Territory of Labuan to showcase their talent, courage, and public speaking abilities.
Siti Aisah Sumandang, a student from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FKI), emerged as the champion, taking home a cash prize of RM250.
The runner-up spot went to Nurul Fatin Fatiha Azizi, also from FKI, who received RM200, while Nurzahira Henri from the Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL) secured third place, winning RM100.
Three participants—Nurul Shafiqa (FKI), Iffah Raihanah Ramlan (Labuan Vocational College), and Saqila Nurasiqin Samir (FKAL)—each received a consolation prize of RM50. All winners were also presented with trophies and certificates of participation.
The prizes were presented to the winners by FKAL Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr Noor Hassanah Husin.
Organisers said the competition serves as a platform to groom a generation of undergraduates capable of voicing intellectual, critical, and authoritative views, in line with the aspirations of developing competitive and high-leadership human capital.
They hope such competitions will continue to be the best avenue for shaping students who excel not only academically, but also possess strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a high sense of leadership.
Also present at the event were FKI Multimedia Technology Programme Head Dr Wan Nooraishya Wan Ahmad, Alpha and Beta Residential Colleges Principal Ts Hadzariah Ismail, Programme Coordinator Dr Norcikeyonn Samuni, and Programme Director Nurul Akma Abdul Rahim.
