LABUAN — Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), through its Faculty of International Finance Labuan (FKAL), recently organized the “MyNext Level-Up: Career Success Phase 2” program to boost graduate employability and better prepare students for an increasingly challenging job market.

The event, held at Central Lecture Hall 1, serves as a student career development platform aligned with the university’s mission to produce holistic, competitive, and resilient graduates.

FKAL Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal, emphasized that the initiative focuses on strengthening soft skills, fostering professional development, and building robust industry networks.

“Collaborations between the university and external agencies, such as TalentCorp, provide students with a deeper understanding of current job market demands and enhance their readiness for the professional world,” Dr. Geoffrey said.

The strategic partnership with TalentCorp Malaysia was highlighted by the presence of its Regional Lead (Borneo) for Campus Outreach & Mobility, Hasyimi Hasyim, who shared valuable insights regarding career development and industry opportunities.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in various professional development modules. Key focus areas included career awareness, personal branding, effective use of LinkedIn, internship preparation, entrepreneurship development, and interactive mock interview simulations.

The event featured presentations from UMS Career Development and Alumni Centre Director, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Sidah Idris, and Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Research (CEDeC) Head of Program and Guidance Unit, M. Malik Ag Rasin.

Also in attendance were FKAL Deputy Dean of Academics & International, Dr. Ricky Chia Chee Jiun; Deputy Dean of Student Affairs & Alumni, Dr. Noor Hassanah Husin; and Program Director Nora Abiyana Gabra, who led the organizing committee and student volunteers.
