LABUAN — The Finance Division and Academic Services Sector of Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) recently organized a Tahlil and Yasin recitation ceremony.
The event, held at the Finance Division Meeting Room on the 4th Floor of the UMSKAL Tower Building, aimed to pray for the souls of the departed while fostering closer ties among the campus staff.
Accountant Noradiana Ibrahim stated that the primary purpose of the ceremony was to offer prayers, dhikr, and blessings from the recitation of the holy Quran to those who have passed away, seeking Almighty Allah’s forgiveness and mercy for them.
She added that such gatherings serve as a form of ongoing charity (sedekah jariah) that benefits the deceased, while also reminding the living of mortality and the power of God.
“At the same time, this ceremony helps strengthen the good relations that already exist among the staff members,” she said of the event, which commenced at 9 am.
The Yasin and Tahlil recitations were led by UMSKAL Islamic Affairs Officer, Ustaz Alfaiz Darsono.
Also present at the spiritual gathering was Assistant Administrative Officer Che Din Md. Salleh, alongside personnel from the department.
