LABUAN — The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has successfully convened a strategic retreat to map out and fortify its direction for the 2026–2030 period.

The three-day program, held from May 22 to 24 at the UMS Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), brought together FPSK’s top management and department heads to align the faculty’s roadmap with the broader UMS Strategic Plan and the “Lensa UMS – UMS The Brain of Borneo” aspiration.

FPSK Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Fairrul Masnah @ Kadir, who led the delegation, said the retreat aimed to drive holistic and sustainable excellence across the faculty.

“I hope this retreat serves as an ideal platform to empower leadership, strengthen governance, and propel FPSK toward greater heights, while fostering closer ties between management and department heads,” she said.

Beyond strategic planning, the program featured team-building sessions designed to enhance camaraderie, teamwork, and bonding among the university’s leaders.

The sessions were conducted by the UMSKAL Student Affairs Division (HEP) team, led by Deputy Chief Psychological Officer Nur Iman Reedzal.

Dr. Fairrul expressed her appreciation to UMSKAL Director Professor Dr. Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin for hosting the event, as well as the HEP team for facilitating the activities at the UMSKAL Tower Building’s Theatrette Hall.

The retreat was attended by senior faculty officials, including the Deputy Dean of Academic and International, Dr. Mohammad Firdaus Bolong @ Mohd Darwis; the Deputy Dean of Health Sciences Academics, Associate Professor Dr. Caroline Sunggip; the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Community Networking, Dr. Mexmollen Marcus; and the Chief Administrator, Talib Abdullah Shani.
