LABUAN — The Special Education Remedial Unit of Sekolah Kebangsaan Lubok Temiang (SKLT) organised the Jom ke Gale-Vasi Inobest 2.0 programme to expose its An Nur Special Education Remedial pupils to innovation and best practices in teaching and learning (T and L).

The programme, held at the school’s Dewan Gemilang recently, also aimed to foster creativity and innovation among the pupils.

Programme coordinator Norhasiken Mohd Dahli said the Innovation Gallery served as a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences in school-based innovation, while motivating pupils to be more dedicated, creative and innovative in their learning.

She said the programme also provided the pupils with exposure to various innovative approaches and good practices in T and L.

Among those present were Ministry of Education (MOE) Special Needs Learning Unit senior assistant director Norwahidah Othman; Labuan Education Department Learning Sector senior assistant director Amiah Bua; Mohd Khairi Mahady and Nurul Hidayah Umar, both assistant directors from the Learning Sector; and Special Education Sector assistant director Dk Maswati Awang Ibrahim.

Also present were SKLT Senior Assistant for Administration Muharna@Ana Shariff Mucklie, Senior Assistant for Student Affairs Sunah Tahir, Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum Syamsul Reduan and representatives from the Labuan Public Library.

The programme involved 20 teachers, 26 An Nur Special Education Remedial pupils, five former An Nur pupils and Year One to Year Three pupils.

Activities included a welcoming dance performance featuring the Bajau-Suluk ethnic group, an innovation exhibition at the Special Education Remedial Innovation Gallery, Malay language and resource centre innovation showcases, a book exhibition by the Labuan Public Library, as well as quizzes and question-and-answer sessions.

Muharna said the programme was expected to improve pupils’ learning performance through exposure to innovation and best practices in T and L.

She said applying innovation in learning could optimise pupils’ potential through meaningful learning experiences and help shape them into outstanding citizens.

“At the same time, it can help shape the character of SK Lubok Temiang pupils. We want to expose them to various innovations from an early age,” she said, representing headmistress Farida Abdul Rahman.

She also congratulated and thanked the teachers and the Labuan Public Library for their contributions towards the success of the Gale-Vasi Inobest 2.0 programme.
