LABUAN — Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Satu (SKPS), Labuan, recently hosted a delegation of 60 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Melayu Pusat, Limbang, Sarawak, in a benchmarking visit aimed at sharing experiences, knowledge and best practices in the management and implementation of special education programmes.
The delegation, led by SK Melayu Pusat headmistress Hayati Mohammad Amin, was warmly received by Labuan Education Department (JPWPL) Special Education Sector Assistant Director Basneh Jamilide, SK Pekan Satu headmistress Anita Shyamini S. Azman, school administrators and members of the school’s Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI).
The visit provided an opportunity for both schools to exchange views and experiences, particularly in implementing programmes for special education pupils.
Among the main activities was a montage presentation introducing the background, achievements and members of the SK Pekan Satu PPKI, giving the visiting delegation an overview of the programme’s operations and activities.
This was followed by a best-practice sharing session conducted by PPKI teachers Chelwin Vester and Nurul Atirah Abdul Fattah, which provided a platform for both sides to exchange views and share experiences in implementing special education programmes.
The programme also included a souvenir exchange as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill, with SK Pekan Satu presenting souvenirs to the visiting delegation before receiving souvenirs in return.
The delegation was later taken on a tour of the PPKI classrooms and surrounding facilities at SK Pekan Satu.
Anita expressed her appreciation to the SK Melayu Pusat delegation for choosing SK Pekan Satu as the destination for the benchmarking visit.
She also thanked and congratulated all PPKI staff and those involved in ensuring the success of the programme.
Anita said visits of this nature were important in strengthening cooperation between schools while enriching pupils’ learning experiences.
The SK Pekan Satu community expressed its pleasure in hosting the visit and hoped that the ties between the two schools would continue to be strengthened in the future.
