LABUAN — The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Labuan has taken action against a local bakery company for storing scheduled controlled goods with an expired Scheduled Controlled Goods (CSA) permit.

Labuan KPDN director Junaidah Arbain said the breach was uncovered during an inspection under Ops Tiris 4.0 conducted by an enforcement team in a suburban area here.

“Checks revealed that the company’s CSA permit had expired and was not renewed. However, the business continued operations involving purchase, storage, and usage of scheduled controlled goods without a valid permit,” she said in a statement today.

She added that such actions constitute an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 [Act 122] and its related subsidiary legislation. Relevant documents have been seized to facilitate further investigation.

Under Act 122, an individual found guilty faces a fine of up to RM1 million or imprisonment for up to three years, or both, for the first offence, and a fine of up to RM3 million or imprisonment for up to three years, or both, for subsequent offences.

For corporate bodies, offenders can be fined up to RM2 million for the first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences.

Junaidah reminded all license and permit holders, including wholesalers of scheduled controlled goods, to ensure their permits remain valid and compliant with established terms. Permit holders were urged not to take expiry dates lightly and to submit renewal applications well in advance to avoid legal non-compliance.

She affirmed that KPDN Labuan will continue to intensify inspections and take stern action against any parties violating regulations under the ministry’s purview.

Members of the public with information on illegal commercial activities are encouraged to submit complaints through KPDN’s official channels.
